Meeting point

Hotel pickup or an Amigo Tours meeting point, depending on the option — The listing picks up in Cancún, Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen, Puerto Aventuras and the Riviera Maya. Infants must ride in a child seat you bring, and the seat is charged as a place on the bus.

The day: about 12 hours, 2.5 hours each way

The day lasts about 12 hours because Chichén Itzá is about 200 km from Cancún, roughly 2.5 hours each way by road. The coach stops at three places. First comes Chichén Itzá, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1988, where a certified guide walks you through the main buildings, including the Kukulcán pyramid (El Castillo) and El Caracol. Then comes the cenote swim and, on the VIP and All-Inclusive options, a buffet lunch. Last comes a short panoramic visit to Valladolid, a colonial town about 40 km east of the ruins. The guide speaks the language you booked at the ruins, and the commentary on the coach is bilingual.

Which cenote the tour swims in

The tour swims at Cenote Chichikán, the stop the listing's itinerary names, near Valladolid. The state tourism board describes it as a tourist park built around a cenote, about 5 minutes from Valladolid, with Maya culture activities. It is not Cenote Ik Kil, the round, vine-hung cenote 3 km from Chichén Itzá that many other tours use. You also cannot swim in the Sacred Cenote inside the ruins; you see it on the guided walk. The listing includes restrooms and changing rooms at the cenote. The life jacket and locker are extra unless you book the All-Inclusive option. For other cenotes in the area, see our list of cenotes near Valladolid.

What the price includes, and the Chichén Itzá entry

The $57 price covers transport, the guide, the cenote entry, the tequila tasting and the Valladolid stop. It does not cover the Chichén Itzá entrance. The listing asks for 44 US dollars, paid on the day. The official ticket for foreign visitors is 697 pesos (MXN): 105 pesos for the federal INAH fee plus 592 pesos for the Yucatán state fee. Since 27 March 2026 both are paid as one ticket at a single ticket office. Mexicans, Mexican residents, children, students and teachers get a discount with official ID. Also budget for the life jacket and locker at the cenote, drinks, and lunch if you book the Standard option. Our cenote cost guide adds it all up.

Standard, VIP and All-Inclusive options

The listing sells the same day in three options. Standard leaves out the buffet lunch. VIP adds the Mexican buffet lunch. All-Inclusive adds the buffet, the 44-dollar ruins fee, the cenote life jacket and locker, and one drink. The listing also says it uses a separate skip-the-line entrance at Chichén Itzá. Hotel pickup or a meeting point depends on the option you pick. Chichén Itzá itself opens 8:00 to 17:00, with last entry at 16:00 (INAH).

Who should book a different Chichén Itzá day

Book the Cobá and Chichén Itzá day if you want two ruins in one trip. Book the All-Inclusive listing if you want every fee paid in advance. Book a private tour if you want your own timing. If you would rather see Tulum's ruins by the sea, a shorter drive, see the Tulum ruins and cenote tour. All the options are compared on our page of cenote tours from Cancún.
