Meeting point
Hotel pickup in Cancún, Costa Mujeres and Puerto Morelos — Pickup time is earlier than the tour start and differs by hotel; the operator's confirmation email gives yours. A van may collect you first and transfer you to the tour coach.
The day: Tulum, a cenote, then Playa del Carmen
The day has three stops, in this order, inside 10 hours with hotel pickup. First comes a guided walk through the Tulum archaeological site, the Maya city on the cliffs above the Caribbean. Second comes Cenote Mariposa, where you swim and eat a buffet lunch. Third comes free time on Fifth Avenue (Quinta Avenida), Playa del Carmen's street of shops and boutiques, before the coach drives you back. The guide works in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French or Italian. The tour runs rain or shine. Plastic bottles are not allowed inside the Tulum site, so bring a reusable bottle.
Which cenote: Mariposa at the Canamayte eco park
The tour swims at Cenote Mariposa, inside the Canamayte eco park near Tulum, which the listing calls a semi-open cenote. A life jacket is included, according to the listing. Lockers are not included on the listing, although 1 of the 10 latest reviews says lockers were free. 3 of those 10 reviews say the stop had two cenotes to swim in; the listing names only Mariposa. This is not Gran Cenote or another famous Tulum cenote; our list of the best cenotes in Tulum covers those.
Tulum ruins entry and the national-park fee
Tulum's gate fees are paid on the day, not in the tour price. The listing asks for 40 US dollars per adult and 20 per child, in cash, to cover the archaeological site, Parque del Jaguar and the cenote. The official figures, set by a federal decree in force since 20 July 2026, are 165 pesos (MXN) for foreigners for the ruins and Tulum National Park together, plus 100 pesos for Parque del Jaguar: 265 pesos in all. No official figure for the cenote fee was found. Mexican citizens with ID pay reduced fees. The cenote cost guide puts these fees side by side.
Tulum or Cobá
Pick Tulum for ruins by the sea and a shorter day; pick a Cobá combo for a jungle site and a longer one. Cobá lies 47 km northwest of Tulum, and its tallest pyramid, Nohoch Mul, is about 42 m high; climbing reopened in late 2025 by a wooden staircase. INAH set Cobá's entry at 209 pesos from January 2026. This tour does not go to Cobá. The two Cobá listings below add it to a Tulum day for $14 to $21 more, and both take 12 hours.
Who should book a different Tulum day
Book the cenote and turtle snorkel tour if you want to snorkel with sea turtles at Akumal on the same day. Book a Cobá combo if you want two ruins. Skip this tour if back or mobility problems make walking hard: the listing says it is not suitable. Every other option is on our page of cenote tours from Cancún.
