This cenote swimming tour from Cancún is a 6.5-hour day at Cenotes El Retoño, a cenote park the listing puts about 30 minutes from Cancún, for $59 per person. The price covers round-trip transport from fixed meeting points in Cancún and Puerto Morelos, entry to two cenotes, a life jacket, bikes, the pools and hammock area, and an à la carte lunch with a drink. There are no ruins and no other stops: the whole day is swimming and resting. It holds 4.9 on 75 reviews of this tour on GetYourGuide, and El Retoño runs the trip itself. The catch: there is no hotel pickup, so you get yourself to a meeting point.

Meeting point
Fixed meeting points in Cancún and Puerto Morelos (no hotel pickup) — The listing's pickup points are Starbucks Marina Puerto Cancún, Hooters Malecón, GOmart Punta Sam and Súper Akí Xel-Ha in Cancún, and Fundadores Park in Puerto Morelos. Pick the one nearest your hotel or rental when you book; the van drops you back at the same points.
Which cenotes the tour visits
The tour visits two cenotes, both inside the grounds of Cenotes El Retoño, the private park that sells this trip. The listing does not name the two pools one by one. It says there are four types of cenote and that each has its own character, but it does not say which types these two are. You ride a free bike along the park trails between them, or ride in the park's vehicle if you cannot cycle. The park also has swimming pools, so non-swimmers have a shallow option. A life jacket is included. If you want a named cenote such as Ik Kil or Gran Cenote, this is the wrong day: compare the other cenote tours from Cancún.
How long you get in the water
You get most of the 6.5 hours at the park, because there is only one stop. After a short safety talk on arrival, the host leaves the day to you: swim, cycle, nap in a hammock or sit by a pool. Lunch opens at noon and you order from a menu rather than a buffet, with a drink of your choice. Alcohol and desserts cost extra. Cenote water stays cool all year, at about 24 to 25 °C (75 to 77 °F) in published measurements, so most people swim in sessions and warm up in between. Our guide to whether cenotes are cold has the numbers.
Pickup from the hotel zone
There is no hotel-door pickup on this tour. An air-conditioned van collects you at fixed meeting points: Starbucks Marina Puerto Cancún, Hooters Malecón, GOmart Punta Sam, Súper Akí Xel-Ha, or Fundadores Park in Puerto Morelos. If you stay in the hotel zone, plan a taxi or bus ride to the nearest point. The listing gives the start time when you pick a date. On the way back the van stops at the same points.
What is included, and what it costs on the ground
The $59 price covers transport, entry to both cenotes, the life jacket, bikes, the pools and hammocks, a guide and lunch with one drink. That leaves very little to pay on the day: tips, alcohol, dessert and souvenirs. El Retoño also sells day passes on its own website: 350 pesos (MXN) for entry only, and 1,200 pesos with a food and drink credit plus a van from Marina Puerto Cancún or Malecón Américas. This tour, at 1,090 pesos, costs a little less than that van package. To compare it with paying gate fees yourself, see what a cenote costs.
What to bring
Bring swimwear, a towel, water shoes, closed comfortable shoes and some cash. The park lists open-toed shoes, alcohol and drugs, and speakers as not allowed. The listing asks for biodegradable sunscreen and insect repellent. Many cenotes go further and ask you to shower and skip creams before you swim, because lotions pollute the water. Our cenote packing list covers the details.
Who should book a different cenote tour
Book something else if you want ruins in the same day: the Chichén Itzá and Tulum days pair a cenote swim with a guided visit. Book the jungle ATV, zipline and cenote tour if you want action rather than a slow swim. If you are a confident driver, the Ruta de los Cenotes near Puerto Morelos has several cenotes you can visit on your own.
